ES Group is working on a preliminary safety analysis report for the RNPP Unit 4 on the trial operation in the daily flexible operation mode

ES Group contributes to the introduction of a daily flexible operation mode at Ukrainian NPPs. It is known that nuclear energy generated over 55% of Ukraine´s electricity. Since nuclear power plants as well as renewable energy sources operate in the base mode, the Ukrainian power system is facing a shortage of power manoeuvres. This problem should be solved by the introduction of the nuclear power plant flexible operation mode (FOM) in the range of 100% -75% -100%.

In February, ES Group LLC, which is a part of the Czech-Ukrainian group of companies ES Group, signed a contract with SE NNEGC Energoatom on development a preliminary safety analysis report (PSAR) on the trial operation of RNPP Unit 4 in the daily flexible operation mode. The above-mentioned contract is provided by the Schedule for the implementation of measures to justify and implement the daily flexible operation mode in KhNPP Unit 2 and RNPP Unit 4. PSAR is required to obtain the permission from the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspection of Ukraine for trial operation of RNPP Unit 4 in the FOM for next four fuel campaigns.

Within PSAR, our company will carry out computational justifications of the main equipment reliability for the reactor facility in the load control mode within 25% of nominal power for 4 fuel loads for a period from 0 to 200 effective days. In addition, evidence of operational safety of core fuel loading of RNPP Unit 4 within the daily schedule of power changes will be calculated based on algorithm implemented in KhNPP Unit 2 for the fuel campaign No. 16-19. The performed analysis will be extended to the following fuel loads.
