ENERGY SAFETY GROUP PARTICIPATED IN THE PWR PRAGUE CONFERENCE

The PWR Prague Conference, organized by the Czech Nuclear Society, was held in Prague on October 8-9. The conference brought together leading companies in the industry, experts from nuclear power plants, designers, representatives of regulatory bodies, fuel suppliers, equipment and components suppliers, maintenance and other services providers.

At the event, Vadym Ivanov, CEO of Energy Safety Group, met with Ukrainian and international partners, including IPP-Centre, Framatome, ČEZ, Westinghouse, EDF, VÚJE, Dukovany NPP.

During the two-day conference, the participants discussed the licensing of the new generation of VVER-1000 and VVER-440 fuel, the experience of operating Westinghouse VVER fuel at Ukrainian NPPs and Kozloduy NPP, automation of its inspection, and the procedures for closing the fuel cycle of Czech nuclear reactors. Special attention was paid to the operation and management of radioactive waste and construction of new reactors, including in Dukovany.

All reports were thematically divided into sessions: “Nuclear fuel and fuel cycle”, “Support of Operation and Radwaste Treatment”, “Safety and long-term operation”, and “New PWR Units‘ Construction”.

As part of the “Safety and long-term operation” session, Westinghouse experts made a presentation on the project to implement the long-term containment cooling system for Rivne NPP (Units 1 and 2), which Westinghouse implements together with Energy Safety Group.
