ENERGY SAFETY GROUP MOBILE DIESEL GENERATORS SUCCESSFULLY PASSED TESTS DURING JOINT EMERGENCY EXERCISE AT THE ARMENIAN NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

ENERGY SAFETY GROUP MOBILE DIESEL GENERATORS SUCCESSFULLY PASSED TESTS DURING JOINT EMERGENCY EXERCISE AT THE ARMENIAN NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

The joint emergency exercise conducted on 12 November 2025 by the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant in conjunction with the Nuclear Safety Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia confirmed the critical role of reliable emergency power supply solutions in the event of a complete power failure at a nuclear power plant. As part of the drills, mobile diesel generators designed, manufactured, and supplied by Energy Safety Group, funded by the European Union, were launched and tested.

Mobile diesel generators, which performed a key role as backup power during the exercises, ensured the stable operation of safety-critical systems and demonstrated their effectiveness in modes as close as possible to real crisis conditions. The equipment was created as part of a large-scale joint engineering project with Energy Safety Group and Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine LLC, funded by the European Union, which included:

  • Design, manufacture, and commissioning of equipment to mitigate the consequences of design basis accidents, in particular a station blackout scenario.
  • Integration of the entire complex into a container module with a fuel tank, electrical cabinets, and a control system for fully autonomous operation.
  • Seismic-resistant design developed in accordance with nuclear safety requirements and international standards.

For the Energy Safety Group, this project is part of a systematic effort to improve nuclear safety, which has been a policy priority of the European Union for many years. The EU highly values its practical cooperation with Armenia in the field of nuclear safety and the country’s consistent efforts to modernise the plant and strengthen its resilience, particularly following the 2015 stress tests.

The successful exercises confirmed that Energy Safety Group’s mobile diesel generators enhance the set of measures to improve nuclear safety, namely by providing real reinforcement of emergency preparedness and strengthening the overall safety level of the Armenian NPP in line with European approaches and standards.
