YOUTH NUCLEAR FORUM WAS HELD AT RIVNE NPP WITH THE SUPPORT OF ENERGY SAFETY GROUP

On June 20-22, 2025, the Youth Nuclear Forum took place at Rivne NPP, organized by the Ukrainian Nuclear Society (UkrNS) with the support of NNEGC “Energoatom” and partners – ENERGY SAFETY GROUP and Radiy.

The event brought together more than 50 young professionals, students, scientists and experts from all regions of Ukraine. The key event was the case project competition: participants in interdisciplinary teams worked on topical issues: from green energy transformation, creation of energy islands, development of nuclear technologies in medicine, human resources in the industry, construction of satellite cities for nuclear power plants to improvement of the nuclear fuel cycle in Ukraine.

ENERGY SAFETY GROUP engineer Oksana Dovha, from a team that included representatives of the SUNPP, KhNPP, RNPP, SSTC NRS and SE “Eastern Mining and Processing Plant” (ShidGZK) worked on the case “Building a New Ecosystem of Energy Satellite City Near a New NPP”. The task was to develop a concept of the city of the future for nuclear energy specialists and their families, focusing on comfort, development, sustainability, and attractiveness for young people.

Engineer Anna Topal from the team, which included representatives of SUNPP, RNPP, NSC KIPT, ShidGZK, E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and SSTC NRS, presented the project “Ukrainian Nuclear Fuel Cycle Technology Development Program” aimed at strengthening scientific and technical capabilities, ensuring energy independence, developing human resources and international partnerships.

The first place was awared to the team with a project on the development of nuclear medicine – creation of radiopharmaceuticals for cancer treatment.

Participants also had excursions to Rivne NPP facilities, and a special training focused on the importance of the human factor in ensuring safety in nuclear energy.

“The Youth Nuclear Forum once again demonstrated the significance of intergenerational interaction and support of young professionals’ initiatives in sustainable development of the nuclear sector in Ukraine”, stated Danylo Lavrenov, First Vice President and Executive Secretary of UkrNS.
