Training Program Continued: Young Specialists from Energy Safety Group Visit the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant Information Center

ES Group Europe continues its series of training events for the company’s young professionals. On October 18, a group of young engineers from Energy Safety Group visited the the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant Information Center in the Czech Republic as part of their educational program. Since 1990, the official information center of the ČEZ operator at the Dukovany NPP has welcomed visitors and served as a key platform for promoting nuclear energy and maintaining dialogue with the public.

During the visit, participants explored the interactive exhibition, which presents the full lifecycle of nuclear fuel, the principles of nuclear safety, and how the Czech approach to managing spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste. The information center offers visitors a wide range of media tools, including interactive displays and the ReakTour VR experience, which provides a virtual insight into the plant’s controlled areas.

The educational focus of the visit was on the operation and modernization of the VVER-440/V-213 reactors at Dukovany – the first nuclear power plant built in the Czech Republic. With four power units, the plant generates around 15 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity annually, covering approximately 20% of the country’s energy needs.

This visit marks another step in the program aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of the Czech nuclear ecosystem. Earlier this summer, young specialists toured the production sites of industry leaders ŠKODA JS, DOOSAN ŠKODA POWER, and ZAT. The program included visits to facilities that manufacture reactor components, steam turbines (5-1250 MW), and automated control systems, as well as meetings with management and engineers to discuss production practices and joint projects.

The knowledge gained about ČEZ’s technical and communication approaches will further strengthen the training of young specialists at Energy Safety Group and contribute to future joint initiatives with Czech partners.
