ENERGY SAFETY GROUP TOOK PART IN THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE NPHyCo GOVERNANCE BOARD
In October, the annual meeting of the NPHyCo Project Governance Board was held, which was attended by Martin Kykal from Energy Safety Group.
At the beginning of the meeting, the results of joint activities over the past year were reviewed and the project progress at this stage against the plans was discussed. A separate topic was the lessons learned from the NPHyCo. Further activities were also planned.
The plans include three webinars, one of which will be held by Energy Safety Group together with Framatome to discuss the Technical Roadmap. The webinar on the technical requirements related to the integration of an existing Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) with a Hydrogen Production Plant (HPP) will take place on November 4 at 12.00 (CET). To register, please follow the link.
In addition, licensing and safety aspects of coupling a hydrogen production plant to an existing nuclear power plant will be discussed in December, and the economic aspects of such cogeneration will be discussed in January 2025.
To recap, in 2022, ES Group became a partner in the NPHyСo (Nuclear Powered Hydrogen Cogeneration) research project, which is dedicated to nuclear hydrogen cogeneration and is funded by the European Union’s Research and Training Program. The goal of the project, led by Framatome’s German subdivision, is to explore the possibility of producing low-carbon hydrogen from nuclear power plants to provide sufficient quantities at an affordable price for sectors that are difficult to decarbonize.
