ENERGY SAFETY GROUP BECAME PARTICIPANTS AND PARTNERS OF “PROSPECTS FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF INNOVATIONS IN NUCLEAR ENERGY” CONFERENCE
The VI International Scientific and Technical Conference “Prospects for the Introduction of Innovations in Nuclear Energy” organized by the Ukrainian Nuclear Society (UkrNS) took place on September 26-27, 2024. The conference was held in Kyiv at the Great Conference Hall of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, with the traditional support of ENERGY SAFETY GROUP.
The plenary session of the conference was opened by Volodymyr Kholosha, President of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society, Yuriy Sheiko, First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Anatoliy Nosovskyi, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Director of the Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Oleksandr Khomych, one of the founders of the conference, Khmelnitskyi NPP Unit Shift Supervisor.
The group of the companies ENERGY SAFETY GROUP supported the event and acted as partners and participants in the event. The company was represented by Oleksandr Mykhailenko, Head of Thermal and Hydraulic Analysis Department of Energy Safety Group LLC (with the topic “Implementation of the Long Term Containment Cooling System at VVER-1000 power units”) and Vasyl Korolchuk, engineer of Thermal and Hydraulic Analysis Department (with the topic “Nuclear Powered Hydrogen Cogeneration at Ukrainian NPPs under the Euroatom’s NPHyCo project”). In addition, Oleksandr Mazurok, PhD, CEO of Energy Safety Group LLC became the co-author of the work “Justification of the Rod Cluster Control Assembly lifetime extension at operating NPPs of Ukraine. Summary calculations”, which was presented by Valeriy Zuyok, Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics, Senior Scientist, Senior Research Associate of Science and Technology Establishment “Nuclear Fuel Cycle” of NSC “Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology” of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The first day of the conference featured presentations on the current state and prospects of the nuclear energy, in particular the construction of new power units based on AP1000 technology, scientific research and developments aimed at improving the safety and efficiency of NPPs operation, and the capabilities of SMR deployment in Ukraine.
During the second day of the conference, the participants presented their research results in the area of NPPs safety improvement, application of the most recent materials, technologies and devices in the nuclear energy, ensuring and improving the equipment reliability, handling of spent nuclear fuel, radioactive waste, radiation safety, as well as cyber security, public outreach and personnel training for the industry.
Among the conference speakers were representatives from Khmelnytskyi NPP, Rivne NPP, Separate Subdivision “Atomproektengineering” of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, NPC “Ukrenergo”, State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, Research and Production Association “Impulse”, Scientific and Production Enterprise “AtomKomplexPrylad”, Institute of Monocrystals of NAS of Ukraine, Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of NAS of Ukraine, Institute of Nuclear Research, NSC “Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology”, National University “Odesa Polytechnic”, Institute of Gas and Institute of Technical Thermophysics of NAS of Ukraine, JSC “Kyiv Research and Design Institute”, Ukrainian Association of Optics and Photonics of Ukraine.
