Participants of NE•RS 2022 are getting ready for the construction of a new unit at Dukovany NPP

Czech-Ukrainian group of companies ES Group, which is going to participate in the construction as a subcontractor of new nuclear capacities in the Czech Republic, took part in the 14th Annual Conference on Nuclear Energy – NE•RS 2022 entitled: „New nuclear build in Czechia – test of the European capability to decarbonize the electricity generation “. “We are approaching a breaking point of our energy future. We must decide whether electricity generation will be based on the competence of engineers and technicians or the dreams of unqualified activists,” the organizers of the Conference emphasized.

The main discussions of the Conference, which took place under the auspices of the Vice-Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Jan Skopecek, were about the preparations for the construction of a new nuclear power unit at the Dukovany NPP. The participants of the Conference called the future construction a test for the industry and society and a benchmark for the future development of nuclear energy in Europe.

William D. Magwood, Director-General of Nuclear Energy Agency, Yves Desbazeille, Director General of Nucleareurope, and Sama Bilbao y León, Director General of World Nuclear Association, spoke about taxonomy, the role of nuclear energy in decarbonization, and working together to accelerate energy development. Tomas Ehler, Deputy Minister of Nuclear Energy, introduced the role of nuclear energy in the governmental energy politics of the Czech Republic, and Andrzej Sidlo, the Chief Expert of the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment, introduced the Polish way of achieving climate goals.

Among other speakers at the Conference was Jiri Hulka, representative of the National Radiation Protection Institute, representatives of Nuclear Research Institute Rez, Director of Dukovany II NPP Petr Zavodsky, and Presidents of the Czech Nuclear Association and Association of Atomic Veterans. The international nuclear industry was represented by American Westinghouse, French EDF, and South Korean KHNP.

ES Group, which is going to participate in new nuclear constructions in Europe, took part in discussions and workshops concerning directions and necessary actions before the practical phase of construction. ES Group has also shared its experience during the workshops.
