ES GROUP became a partner of the V International conference “Prospects for the introduction of innovations in nuclear energy”

On September 28-29, 2023, the V International Scientific Conference “Prospects for the Introduction of Innovations in Nuclear Energy” was held in Kyiv in the Great Conference Hall of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The event was organized by the Public Organization Ukrainian Nuclear Society (PO UkrNS) together with the Council of Young Scientists at the Department of Physical and Technical Problems of Energy of the NAS of Ukraine, the Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of the NAS of Sciences of Ukraine with the support of the State Enterprise NNEGC Energoatom, as well as leading Ukrainian and foreign companies collaborating with enterprises of the Ukrainian nuclear industry.

The plenary session of the first day began with an opening speech by the acting First Vice-President –Technical Director of NNEGC Energoatom Yuriy Sheiko, Director of the Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants Anatoliy Nosovsky, Executive Secretary of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society Danylo Lavrenov and Chairman of the Youth Section of PO UkrNS Oleksandr Khomych.

Oleksandr Mazurok, Technical Director of ES Group, PhD, member of the board of PO UkrNS made a report on the topic “Nuclear hydrogen cogeneration at Ukrainian NPPs in the framework of the Euratom NPHyCo project: First Results”.The scientific community was presented with the first outcome of the research project, its significance for the Rivne and Khmelnytsky NPPs and Ukraine as a whole. The NPHyCo project, dedicated to the study of hydrogen production from nuclear energy, was started within the framework of the Euratom Research and Training Program (2021-2025). NPHyCo’s goal is to assess the feasibility of hydrogen production near existing nuclear power plants, the potential for developing large-scale low-carbon hydrogen production facilities, and the location for a pilot project.

The plenary session of the first day ended with an expert discussion on the topic “Operation and development of nuclear energy taking into account the consequences of russian aggression”.

As part of the second day of the conference, participants were invited to the panel “Discussion of the concept of “Aging Management of Dry Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facilities”, sectional panels “Innovations for the Sustainable Development of the Nuclear Industrial Complex” and “Innovations for the Sustainable Development and Improvement of NPP Safety”.
